Canadian Journal of Bioethics / Revue canadienne de bioéthique: Announcements https://www.cjb-rcb.ca/index.php/cjb-rcb
The Canadian Journal of Bioethics is a peer-reviewed, bilingual (French and English), international, open access academic journal that publishes theoretical, conceptual and empirical research in bioethics. The aim of the journal is to provide a space for the publication of high quality and thought provoking bioethics scholarship of diverse forms (e.g., articles, commentaries, book reviews, editorials, debate pieces, case studies) and from across the full range of specialties in the field (e.g., clinical ethics, research ethics, public health ethics, technology ethics, professional ethics). The journal welcomes submissions that might not otherwise be publishable in US or European bioethics journals because of the language (e.g., in French), jurisdictional context (e.g., specific national issues or cases), form or subject matter (e.g., using diverse theoretical frameworks or applying novel methods).
en-US Editorial: Support the Canadian Journal of Bioethics – Lyrasis/OACIP Funding campaign https://www.cjb-rcb.ca/index.php/cjb-rcb/announcement/view/12
Dear friends of the CJB/RCB,

I am writing to ask your collaboration in a fund-raising initiative to support the Canadian Journal of Bioethics/Revue Canadienne de Bioéthique (CJB/RCB), the only bilingual (English and French), Diamond open access (OA), non-profit, peer-reviewed bioethics journal in Canada.

Almost entirely volunteer-driven and working with a modest operating budget, the CJB/RCB has seen sustained grown over the past few years and we now systematically publish 50-60 manuscripts per year in 4 issues, either Open issues or Special Issues with guest editors. But to sustain this continued growth, additional funding is needed. So in collaboration with the Open Access Community Investment Program (OACIP) – part of Lyrasis, which raises money for OA journals like ours through pledges from libraries and institutions – the CJB/RCB is seeking to raise $43,000USD/year.

There are two ways that you can help:

First, you could reach out to your library, requesting that they join the OACIP drive. Most university libraries have an interest in OA and many are already familiar with OACIP. Libraries pledge for three years, on a tiered system from $500-$1,500USD per year.

Second, you could ask your centre, department or faculty whether they would be willing to pledge to support the journal at the department rate of $500USD/year for 3 years.

For further information, see the proposed OACIP funding program for the CJB/RCB. If your institution is interested in supporting the CJB/RCB, they can complete this form or email oacip@lyrasis.org.

Regards,

Bryn Williams-Jones, PhD, Editor-in-chief
Canadian Journal of Bioethics / Revue canadienne de bioéthique 2024-03-15
